BROOKINGS - A fraternity of Extension professionals recognized secretaries from Union County and the State 4-H office for outstanding work. They also honored a media leader from Codington County with its 2007 Friend of Extension Award.
Epsilon Sigma Phi presented its State Award for Meritorious Support Service to Janet Lingle, a secretary in the Union County Extension office, and to Patricia Mast, former secretary in the State 4-H Office in Brookings at SDSU. The two were chosen based on outstanding performance as identified by the Extension staff they work with.
A Friend of Extension Award went to broadcaster Jim Thoreson, retired radio announcer of KWAT Radio in Watertown. He was nominated for his years of radio broadcast work that includes coverage of SDSU Extension programs to help South Dakotans.
Epsilon Sigma Phi made the awards Oct. 18 during the 2007 annual conference of the South Dakota Cooperative Extension Service in Brookings.
