 - HUDSON - The recently formed book club at Hudson, officially named the Hudson Book Club, meets once a month at the library. The club has recently changed their meeting date from the last Thursday of the month to the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.

- Three place at State AAU Wrestling Tournament
- RAPID CITY - Five wrestlers finished out the AAU youth wrestling season at the state meet in Rapid City on April 4-5-6. Making it to the State Tournament is an accomplishment in itself to be proud of. Win or lose the experience of it all is one to always remember.
- Relay teams first at Chester
- The Alcester-Hudson boy’s 1600-meter relay team and two girl’s relay teams captured first place at the Chester Invitational track meet last Tuesday.
- Beeck graduates from Partners in Policymaking
 - SIOUX FALLS - Alcester chiropractor Valere Beeck of rural Akron was one of twenty-six individuals to successfully complete Year 16 of South Dakota Partners in Policymaking and graduated on April 12, 2008 at the Ramada Inn & Suites in Sioux Falls. The class motto was “Changing Perceptions….Opening Minds.”
