Hyperion announces new Elk Point office
ELK POINT - Hyperion Refining announced the opening of its new office in Elk Point on Friday, February 8, 2008. The office is located at 109 W. Main Street and will be open to anyone interested in learning more about the proposed Hyperion Energy Center and the Company.
“It has always been a priority for us to provide answers to the public and this office is another way for us to do just that,” said Preston Phillips, Hyperion Project Executive. “It also helps demonstrate our commitment to investing in Union County and the surrounding area as we move forward in our site selection process.”
Phillips continued, “We invite everyone interested to come by and visit, whether to voice support for the project, to ask questions about the Energy Center or any of our permits, or to gather information and sign up for mailings.”
The office will be open Monday through Friday. Initially, office hours will be: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 4p.m.; and Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The office will have information on the proposed Energy Center and its benefits to the community, as well as copies of the air permit Hyperion submitted, Hyperion’s rezoning application and other information that has been presented in various public appearances and presentations.
Phillips further noted, “This project is an economic engine for jobs, taxes and opportunity and we are fortunate to enjoy a strong base of local support. The Elk Point office will allow us to continue an open and informed discussion with the community. We view this as another opportunity for us to learn.”
The office will be staffed by Hyperion officials and will serve as a central location for employees and consultants who come to Union County for the project. It will not serve as the construction or operations office if the Union County site is selected for the project. Those offices would be located at the Energy Center site.
Hyperion Refining is committed to building the most environmentally responsible energy center in the United States, which will include the first oil refinery built in this country since 1976. The center will incorporate green principles in its every day functions and integrate only the most advanced commercially feasible emission control technologies in its operations.
Union County is one of the Midwestern sites in consideration for the Hyperion Energy Center.
