(Submitted photo)- HUDSON - The recently formed book club at Hudson, officially named the Hudson Book Club, meets once a month at the library. The club has recently changed their meeting date from the last Thursday of the month to the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
- A committee consisting of three or four book club members is chosen to select a book to be read for each month. A variety of different types of books are picked. Books for the club are sometimes ordered in quantity at a discount and shared with members of the club throughout the month.
Marcella Paulson, who started the book club, and leads the discussion of the book read, said it is fun to talk to other members of the club during the month and discuss the book. Often the discussion with members will also include other books the person has read, leading to an additional interest in a book.- Discussion of the book usually begins with every member rating the book on a scale of 1 to 10 and giving the reason why they chose that rating. This is followed by further discussion of the book.
- The group has an average turn out of twelve to fifteen people each month. Hudson Book Club is open to all grown-ups and they welcome all who love literature. They comment that there is always room for more.
- Anyone who loves to read will enjoy this quote by Anna Quindlen, which was submitted by Mary Miller a member of the book club. “I would be most content if my children grew up to be the kind of people who think decorating consists mostly of building enough bookshelves.”
- Any questions about the book club can be directed to Marcella at 605-984-2264.
