Oscar “Smiley” Larson
Oscar “Smiley” Larson, 81, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Hudson, died Saturday, January 19, 2008 at Sanford Medical Center. Funeral services were held January 23 at Hudson Lutheran Church with Rev. Lori Marty officiating. 
Oscar Carl Larson Jr. was born November 11, 1926 near Hudson, the son of Oscar Sr. and Ruby (Anderberg) Larson.  He graduated from Hudson High School and served in the U.S. Army in Germany during WW II.
Oscar “Smiley” Larson married Lila Nelson on September 7, 1947 at Hudson Lutheran Church.  Together they farmed west of Hudson for 37 years before becoming Distributors for Dixon Lawn Mowers for North and South Dakota until their retirement when they moved to Sioux Falls in 2001. Oscar was a candidate in 1990 for the SD House of Representatives; on REA Board for many years; member of Hudson Jeptha #121 Masonic Lodge; member of Center for Active Generations; lifetime member of Hudson Lutheran Church; and volunteer in many civic groups. Lila died on August 22, 2007.
Grateful for sharing his life are his daughters Grace (Terry) Finch and Rebecca (Chip) Larson all of Sioux Falls, sons, Donn (Linda) Larson of Hudson, Dave (Shelley) Larson of Tea; foster-son, David Larson of Sioux Falls; grandchildren, Scott, Amy, Bob, Nicole, Jenn, Jeremiah, Danielle, Jay, Heidi, Justin, and Tiara; 12 great-grandchildren; 17 God Children;  brother, Ken (Janie) Larson of Burnsville, MN;   sister, Lois Larson of Stillwater, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lila; 5 yr old sister, Donna Mae Larson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Center for Active Generations or Hudson Lutheran Church.
