Gilbert Ellingsen
Gilbert Ellingsen, 93, of Alcester, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services were held April 30 at Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester, with burial at the Nora Cemetery, rural Alcester.
Gilbert Ellingsen was born February 18, 1915 in Union County, South Dakota, to parents Gabriel and Anna (Holthe) Ellingsen.  He married Maxine Johnson on February 22, 1947.  Gilbert farmed his entire life in the Alcester area.  He retired in 1976 and moved into Alcester where he has resided until the present time.
Gilbert was baptized and confirmed at Roseni Lutheran Church and has been a member of Nathanael Lutheran Church in Alcester for the last 55 years.  He loved golfing and was the greens keeper at the Alcester Golf Course for 13 years.  He enjoyed fishing, playing horseshoes, and was an avid pinochle player.  Gilbert loved his family dearly and was a friend of both the young and old.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Jon Gayle; two sisters, Selma Larson and Gladys Hartman, and his brother Elmer Ellingsen.
Gilbert’s survivors include his wife Maxine Ellingsen of Alcester; three sons:  Bruce Ellingsen and wife Anna of Council Bluffs, IA,  Charles Ellingsen of Brookings, and Lynn Ellingsen of Moore, OK; seven grandchildren:  Andrea Stahl and husband Chuck of Omaha, NE, Heather Burns of Chicago, IL, Jody Aadland and husband Aaron of Sioux Falls, Stephanie Ellingsen of Harrisburg, Jerry Ellingsen of Colorado, Raylene Ellingsen of Moore, OK and Gabriel Ellingsen and wife Jennifer of Moore, OK; six great grandchildren:  Connor Stahl, Samantha Ellingsen, Tristin Ellingsen, Soren Aadland, Gabriele Ellingsen and Ashlynn Ellingsen; and many other relatives and friends.
