- Luther Ihle
- Luther Ihle, 78 passed away Saturday, April 26, 2008, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngtown, OH, after a lengthy illness. Luther was born November 29, 1929 in Union County, SD, the son of John and Gudrun Lindrud Ihle.
- He earned a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and later served as a first lieutenant in the Army's 34th Infantry Regiment during the Korean War. He received his Masters Degree in Hospital Administration from St. Louis University. He served as the Associate Director at St. Elizabeth Hospital from 1965 to 1985. He then served as an Administrator for the Ohio Heart Institute from 1985 until his retirement in 1996. During his lengthy career, he earned his Life Fellowship in the American College of Healthcare Executives.
- He was a member of St. Christine Church and the Youngstown Urban League and was a past president of the Mahoning Valley Olde Car Club. He was an antique auto enthusiast, restorer and collector. He was especially proud of receiving a National First Prize award from the Antique Automobile Club of America for his restoration of his 1935 Packard, which is one of only a few known to exist in the world. He also was a founder of the Gains Investment Club and a past president of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program.
- Mr. Ihle is survived by his wife, Renee L. Rausch, four daughters; Stephanie (James) Martin of Galena, OH, Bethany (Kevin) McDonnell of Townsend, Montana, Laurie (Gary) Goodchild of Pickerington, OH, and Donna (Edgar) Morley of Deerfield Beach, FL, two sons; Jeffrey (Leanne) Ihle of Brisbane, Australia and Jack (Carolyn) Ihle of Denver, Colorado, and sixteen grandchildren.
- Besides his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Dan and Clarence Ihle, and two sisters, Dorothy Withee and Lulu Ihle.
- The family has requested that material tributes take the form of donations to LifeBanc in Cleveland, St. Anthony’s Church in Hoven, SD, or the Humility of Mary Sisters retirement fund in memory of the many members of the order with whom he worked.
- Services and burial will take place later at St. Anthony's Church Cemetery in Hoven, South Dakota.
