- Randy Leland Hope
Randy Leland Hope, 44, of Rapid City, formerly of the Akron and Alcester area, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 4, 2007 at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, CO. Funeral services were held July 9 at Union Creek Lutheran Church, rural Akron, IA, with Reverend Nate Hansen and Reverend Carla Nelson officiating. Burial followed in Riverside Cemetery in Akron.- Randy Leland Hope was born October 31, 1962 in Huntington Park, CA, the son of Gary and Joyce (Farmer) Hope. He attended school in California and graduated from Foothill High School in Pleasanton, CA. Randy worked in the corrugated box industry and real estate. In 1991 he moved to Iowa. He worked for Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation.
- He was united in marriage to Lois Schlueter on October 30, 2005 in Miami Beach, FL. In January of 2007, he and Lois moved to Rapid City. Randy worked for Rapid Packaging Company. He was a marketing specialist for the company.
- Randy was a devoted Christian with a strong faith in God. He was a member of the Big Springs Baptist Church. He was a youth group leader. He loved being outdoors, hiking and hunting. He enjoyed living in the Black Hills and studying Custer. Randy was full of life, energy, and happiness. He loved his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
- Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Rapid City; his children: Kimberly Hope of Ames, IA, and Leland Hope of Sioux Falls; his parents: Gary and Joyce Hope of Alcester; his sister: Cynthia Stevenson and her husband Douglas of Tracy, CA; his step-children: Rena Anderson and Eric Anderson of Alcester; his nephews: John Stevenson and Dougie Stevenson of Tracy, CA; and several other relatives, in-laws, cousins, and many friends.
- He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Leland and Dorothy Hope; and his maternal grandparents: Kenneth and Alice Farmer.
