- Mary Mildred Eilts
- Mary Mildred Eilts, 97, of Bowdle, died Sunday, June 10, 2007. Funeral services were held June 15 at the Bowdle Seventh-day Adventist Church with Pastor Ross Prevo officiating, with burial following in the church cemetery.
- Mary Mildred Eilts, the daughter of Alice (Johnson) and Eilt J. Eilts, was born on a farm near Hawarden, IA on June 2, 1910, the youngest of three children. She attended rural school near Hawarden and Hawarden High School, graduating with the class of 1927.
- Shortly after graduation her mother suffered a stroke, and Mary stayed at home being her mother’s caregiver.
- She married Charles V. Ericson in Lincoln, NE on February 12, 1940. They settled on the farm of Charles’ Grandpa Peterson, four miles south and one and three-quarter miles east of Alcester. They raised cattle on that farm until 1995, and lived on the farm until September 2002, when she and Charles moved to their daughter’s farm near Tolstoy.
- Charles died September 14, 2003, and since December 2004, Mary had lived at the Bowdle Nursing Home.
- Mary was raised in the Lutheran Church and became an Adventist in 1942. She was a member of the Hawarden Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed gardening and growing flowers.
- Mary is survived by one daughter, Shirlee J. (Jerry) Schack of Tolstoy, and two granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Lawrence Eilts, and one sister, Luella Bultman.
