Elly Iverson
Elly Iverson, 86, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 12, 2007 at Hillcrest Healthcare Services in Hawarden, IA. Funeral services were held October 16 at First Congregational Church of Christ in Hudson with Rev. Nancy Jacobson officiating. Burial was held at the Eden Cemetery, rural Hudson.
Elly Gretta Kuhnert was born January 27, 1921 to August and Bertha (Handke) Kuhnert in Eikel Von, Germany. She grew up in Chicago, IL. Elly graduated from high school and attended 3 years of nurse’s training at Holy Cross in Chicago. On October 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Iverson in Chicago. Together they lived in Hudson, where Elly was a nurse at the Hudson Hospital for 28 years. She then was a nurse at several local facilities in the area.
Elly was a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine, American Legion Auxiliary and First Congregational United Church of Christ where she was very active in Women’s Fellowship. Elly enjoyed bowling, roller skating, bingo, dancing, sewing, gardening and especially spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren.
Elly is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Iverson; a son, R. Eugene (Joy) Iverson of Seattle, WA; 2 daughters: Vicki (Michael) Stead of Lancaster, SC and DeeAnn (Don) Hendricks of Chatsworth, IA; 2 adopted children: Kenny and Aggie Snedeker of Hudson; 4 grandchildren: Kelly (Jeremy) Huls of Kingsland, GA, Katie (Chris) Anderson of Hawarden and Russell  and Joshua Iverson of Seattle; 4 great-grandchildren: Rianne, Austin and Carter Huls and Casadee Anderson; a sister, Margaret Krueger of Naperville, IL; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Earl Kuhnert; a sister, Elsie Peary.
