Fern TriptowFern Delores Triptow, 75, of Salinas, CA, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2007, with her family at her side after a short illness. A private funeral service was held, with burial next to her husband at the San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.Fern was born April 7, 1932 in Alcester. She met her husband, Earl Leon Triptow, a Navy officer, while she was living in San Francisco. Earl offered her a life of traveling and residing in exotic locales such as Spain, the Philippines and Puerto Rico.As a Navy wife, Fern embraced her hostess duties by throwing numerous luncheons and dinner parties. Fern was much loved by all who met her during the many years she and Earl lived overseas.Fern and Earl adopted a little girl, Janeen Regina, in 1968 and made her the light of their lives. Fern was a devoted homemaker to her family.After Earl retired from the Navy, they moved to Salinas to be close to her beloved sisters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl. They were married 37 years.After Earl died, Fern spent her time with her sister’s families. Fern and her sisters, Opan and Vi, were affectionately known as “the sisters” or “the girls”. Strangers would often stop to comment on their similar appearance.Survivors include daughter Janeen (Tom) Schuon; sisters Viola Noah, Opal Harris and Lavonne Gunderson; brothers Wendell Pearson, Lowell Pearson and Russell Pearson; and many nieces and nephews who considered her one of their mothers. |
