Ellen DeVries, 90, of Hudson, died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Hudson Healthcare Center. Funeral services were held October 22 at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, IA, with burial at the Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley.

Ellen was born June 16, 1917 at Rock Valley, the daughter of Tom and Sadie (Zwaan) Verdoorn. She married Henry DeVries on June 20, 1935 at Canton. Together they farmed near Hudson and Fairview until retiring into Hudson in 1972.

Ellen also enjoyed selling Shaklee Products to people in the Hudson area. Henry died on May 22, 1995. Ellen moved into the Hudson Healthcare Center on October 18, 2003.

Ellen is survived by two daughters, Darlene (Marvin) Richarz of Volga, and Cheri (Dan) Graves of Salix, IA; 2 sisters, Katherine Kots of Beresford, and Greta (Elmer) Veldkamp of Jasper, MN; 9 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
