Rita Ann Marie McDole, 71, of Hawarden, IA, died Sunday, November 11, 2007 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden with her family by her side. Private family services were held Wednesday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with burial in the Grace Hill Cemetery.

Rita Ann Marie McDole was born February 29, 1936 in Grafton, ND, the daughter of Douglas and Yvonne (Bertrand) McDowall. She graduated from Wayne State College and married Lyle McDole on July 16, 1960. The couple made their home in Hawarden where she was a substitute teacher.

Rita enjoyed knitting, watching the Chicago Bulls play basketball on television, and playing Scrabble with her family. Her favorite musical was “Kiss Me Kate” and she loved the color lavender.

She is survived by her husband, Lyle; son, Tad and his wife Anne of Alcester; two daughters, Jill and Mary, both living in Hawarden; 4 brothers, Don, Doug, Mark and Jim; a sister, Jane Wike; and 2 grandchildren, Katherine and Michael.

Rita was preceded in death by her parents.
