Lady Cubs get loop winsBy Mike Kezar, SportsThe Alcester-Hudson Lady Cubs basketball team got wins over Hurley and Irene-Wakonda in Tri-Valley Conference action.The wins give the Lady Cubs a 5-1 record and second place in the conference, and now have an 8-8 season record.The girls won 54 to 46 over Hurley after trailing by three at the third quarter break. In the fourth quarter the Lady Cubs hit on fourteen free throws as they outscored Hurley, 23 to 12.Mallory Schempp was four of four from the free throw line while Emily Schreur was five of eight from the charity stripe.In addition, Megan Wood hit a three-point field goal while Julia Brown scored on three free throws and a field goal.Leading the Lady Cubs in scoring was Megan Wood with 15 points while Emily Schreur had 12 points and Julia Brown added 11 points. Mallory Schempp scored nine points, while Sarah Haisch added a three-point field goal and Emily Beeler scored two points.The Lady Cubs win 32 to 29 in overtime over Irene-Wakonda as Megan Wood scored eight of her 18 points in the overtime. |
