Vote for Tjay South Dakota Magazine is asking people to vote for Tjay.
A photo of Tjay Head, rural Fort Thompson, has been named a finalist in Smithsonian Magazine’s national photo contest. It is one of 10 finalists in the competition’s Americana category and is included with 50 other photos for a People’s Choice Award. Smithsonian officials will ultimately name the Americana winner, but people across the country are voting online for their favorite in the People’s Choice category. You can vote once every day until April 30 by going to http://photocontest.smithsonianmag.com/v5/finalists/PCA/. There is also a link to the contest’s Web page at www.southdakotamagazine.com. The photo shows Tjay playing with a basketball in front of tepees near his family’s home along the Missouri River in Buffalo County. Magazine publisher Bernie Hunhoff took the photo in October. It appeared on the cover of South Dakota Magazine’s November/December 2007 issue.South Dakota Magazine is headquartered in Yankton. It explores the history, arts, culture, sports and outdoors of the state.
