- Hudson Legion Auxiliary meets
- By LuAnne Thorpe, Secretary
- The May 7th meeting was called to order by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit President, Ramona Schlup, with 8 members present.
- Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the minutes of the April meeting were read and approved. A thank you note was read from our District President, Arlis Hentges, for hosting the District Meeting in Hudson on April 21, and for the supper that followed.
- The first order of business at our May meeting was the election of officers for the following year. LuAnne Thorpe accepted the nomination to remain in the office of Secretary, previously held by Faye Sorlie who retired because of health reasons. Mary Ann Claeys was asked to be Historian for our Unit. The other offices were filled by the officers presently installed.
- Louella Toft is Chairman for our upcoming Poppy Day sales and a short discussion was held concerning the Auxiliary’s role in the Memorial Day services to be held in the Memorial Building on Monday, May 28.
- Since this was the final meeting until the September meeting, following a summer break, we were reminded that our Unit will be in charge of Bingo at the Veteran’s Memorial Hospital in Sioux Falls on August 9, beginning at 2:00 p.m. At least four members, or possibly more, volunteered to work at this worthwhile event.
- We are hoping that the Girl’s State Representative, Sarah Carlson from Beresford, who was sponsored by Hudson’s Unit, will be speaking at one of our first autumn meetings.
- Grace Cole served dessert.
